A pair of beautiful ZigZag chairs designed by Gerrit Rietveld and produced by Cassina.
The ZigZag chair is one of the most important designs of the early 20th century. Originally designed by Rietveld in 1932 for the famous Schröder House in Utrecht. In 1973 Italian furniture manufacturer Cassina produced a run of ZigZag chairs made of 18 mm solid, lacquered cherry wood panels fused together in a Z-shape with beautiful and exceptionally crafted tine joints.
The chair is part of many important collections, including the Museum of Modern Art New York and the German Vitra Design Museum. Their exceptionally minimal character makes the chairs a perfect addition to any dining table, while their sculptural form renders them a perfect collectors item.
The chair is in good vintage condition, with signs of use consistent with age, marked and numbered.
