In 1985 the danish designer and architect Niels Gammelgard was commissioned to design a stylish, comfortable and low-priced sofa with a modern appeal for scandinavian brand Ikea. The sofa’s resistant and stable aluminium structure was not only inspired by supermarket trolleys, but also produced by a trolley manufacturer. This pair of sofas are in perfect condition and feature custom upholstery using a beautiful Raf Simons for Kvadrat fabric.
The Moment sofa accompanied the launch of the brand’s first US store and was followed by an award-winning dining table of the same name. For many years Gammelgard collaborated with Ikea on several furniture designs and furnishing accessories.
