The Ombra Tokyo chair was designed by Charlotte Perriand for the 1954 Synthèse des Arts exhibition in Tokyo that featured the work of Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier, and Férnand Léger. Produced by Cassina, the chair is constructed from a single plane of grained oak that has been shaped and curved to form the seat, back and legs and was inspired by Japanese origami. The Ombra Tokyo chair is an exceptional example of Perriand’s design methodology and masterly craftsmanship.
