The Documenta chair was designed by avantgarde Italian architect Paolo Deganello for Documenta 8 Art exhibition in 1987, on invitation from curator Manfred Schneckenberger.
Consistent with Deganello's distinctively individual flair, the documenta chair's mixed materiality--its wicker seat, metal base and black leather--reads as both futuristic and resistant to adhere to a single style.
The chair is in great vintage condition with signs of wear consistent with age.
