The Quinta chair was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta for Italian companyAlias in 1984. The chair emphasizes the use of steel tubing and the aesthetic qualities of perforated sheet metal in its design. It’s radical shape remains as relevant relevant as ever within contemporary design. This rare turquoise version of the piece is in great condition and shows no marks of usage.
Since 1982 the architect Mario Botta also worked as a designer, primarily of furniture and lighting for the Italian furniture manufacturer Alias and Artemide. His work can be found in the permanent collections of the New Yorker Museum of Modern Art, in the collection of the Virginia Museum of Modern Art in New York and in the 20th Century Design and Architecture Gallery of the New Yorker Metropolitan Museum.
